The VA Community Care Network is a program established by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, allowing eligible Veterans to receive care from trusted community providers when services are not available directly through a VA dental facility or when timely access cannot be met within the VA system. Optum acts as a third‑party administrator (TPA) for the VA CCN in Regions 1, 2, and 3, helping to connect Veterans with licensed dental providers, manage claims, and process benefits efficiently. 

Through this program, we are able to deliver comprehensive dental care to Veterans who qualify for community care referrals authorized by the VA. To receive dental care under the Optum VA Community Care Network, Veterans must be enrolled in VA health care and obtain a referral from their VA provider. If the VA cannot provide timely or local dental services, a referral may authorize care with an Optum‑administered provider like us.

Once authorized, Optum coordinates care, ensuring the treatment plan aligns with VA guidelines and covers services such as exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, crowns, bridges, and extractions.
